Tri Training 101

Looking to “TRI” something new? This 10 week course will provide you with training in preparation for the annual MITCS Triathlon on Sunday, February 11th at HealthTrack. Pre & Post Natal Conditioning

After having a baby, it can be difficult to find the time and energy to start exercising again. Don’t worry though, you’re not alone! Between the demands of looking after your newborn, work commitments, doctors appointments and everything else, it genuinely can be a bit of a struggle to squeeze in some weekly workouts.

20th Anniversary 100 Mile Swim

Join our 20th Anniversary 100-Mile Swim Club It’s easy to sign up! For every 20 miles you swim, up to 100 miles, you will receive an award! Simply keep track of the laps you swim during each workout and record your yardage/mileage in the 100 mile swim binder located outside the aquatics office. The mileage tracking will be maintained and updated weekly!

When does the challenge start? Today – December 31st, 2017
How many lengths is a mile? 
Length = One end of the pool to the other (25 yards)
Lap = Down & Back (50 yards)
70 Lengths or 35 laps = 1,760 yards

Can I walk and have it count as a length of the pool?
Yes! Anyway you go up and down the pool will count as a lap, so you can swim, kick, pull, walk, jump, anything that you are comfortable with. Just have to make sure that you make it from one end of the pool all the way to the other end.

Spar Fit

Tired of the same old workout? This class is an intense workout that will challenge every muscle in your body, blow by blow.

Newcomers welcome! Participants will receive instruction in Shuri-ryu, a traditional form of Okinawan karate. This style of martial art is one of the most complete self-defense systems in existence. Students will be taught proper punching, kicking and striking techniques in addition to basic grappling. No experience is necessary to participate in the program. The benefits include learning self-defense & self-discipline, heightening your level of awareness, improving your coordination, increasing your strength & power and enjoying a great workout. All classes will be taught by Chris Schoebel, a 25-year student of Okinawan Shuri-ryu and chief instructor at Linder’s Karate in Berkeley, IL. Mr. Schoebel has extensive knowledge in both the striking and grappling arts and has studied under Sensei Carl Linder for the past 20 years. Pilates Reformer

Pilates is an exercise system designed to strengthen and stretch the entire body. It can be performed on a mat or by utilizing apparatus equipped with weighted springs. These springs can make exercises easier or more difficult depending on the needs of the client. Pilates apparatus training at Health Track includes Reformers, Chair and Tower. Pilates instructors at Health Track are trained and certified to work with all types of people from athletes to those recovering from injuries.

Our instructors are certified in Stott Pilates, a contemporary approach to the original exercise method pioneered by the late Joseph Pilates. The goal of Stott Pilates is to improve core strength & balances the muscles around the joints, improving the way your body functions, looks & feels. The 5 Basic Principles focus on breathing, pelvic placement, rib cage placement, scapular movement and head & cervical spine placement. Choose from one on one, partner (2 people), or group (3-4 person) trainings.  One on one personalized training programs on Cadillac tower, chair, and barrel. Time slots can be arranged per instructor availability.
